MakeAWay Charities
MakeAWay Charities is a nonprofit benevolence agency committed to making a difference in the lives of individuals. Through targeted support, life-changing gifts and programs that both inspire and empower, MakeAWay Charities has impacted thousands of families in the North Texas community.
Some representative programs and activities of MakeAWay Charities:
• Cars - MakeAWay Charities has given a number of great quality used and even new cars to single mothers in the community.
• Home Repairs - A number of single mother families have received home repairs and maintenance, funded by MakeAWay Charities and empowered through hundreds of hours of unpaid service by our volunteers.
• Extreme Home Makeover - On two occasions, MakeAWay Charities has undertaken the major complete renovation of single mothers’ homes, resulting in approximately $100,000 in improvements and furnishings and hundreds more hours of volunteer labor time.
• Events - Each year, MakeAWay Charities hosts a number of events to provide support and encouragement for single mothers and their children. Our Single Mom’s Mothers’ Day event and Single Parents’ Christmas event each bless hundreds of families, funded through our donors and facilitated by the work of our volunteers.
• Financial Assistance - Each month, dozens of families seek financial support to survive times of hardship through the Benevolence Assistance process of MakeAWay Charities. This support is targeted to help families survive crisis events such as medical emergencies, loss of loved ones, and job loss.
• Emergency Response - MakeAWay Charities is also a line of first defense for individuals, agencies, and entire communities. Makeaway provides relief funds for a number of diverse needs in our community, as exemplified by our support of city police and fire officers who have been injured in the line of duty. We have responded to the needs of families victimized by catastrophic fires. Finally, we provided thousands of dollars of support for Gulf Coast hurricane victims.
